Politicians
please Note!
It may seem ironic to say, that being able to laugh at one’s
self, or to 'see one's self as other's see us', encourages other’s to take one more seriously.
So
before we start on the serious business of changing the current
corrupt political system, here are some ‘Political Truths’ (or
Political Excuses) that politicians might like to ‘use’ when
explaining their actions and policies.
Jonathan
Swift 1667-1745:
Political Farce is as old as the Political Stage:
The recognition for the need for
‘Political’ change is not new.
The Pompous, Overbearing, ridiculous nature of Politics, and the
peoples attitude towards it, is very well documented by Jonathan
Swift 1667-1745 in ‘Gulliver’s Travels’, as ‘Political
Farce’.
Unfortunately these stories are often read as fantasy, in fact
they are stories emphasising the ridiculous nature and
intransigence of the Political System and peoples blind acceptance
of often ridiculous Political Policy.
An
early instance of Political Correctness?
Jonathan Swift 1754)
(from 'A Treatise on Good Manners and Good Breeding')
"As the common forms of good manners were intended for
regulating the conduct of those who have weak understandings; so
they have been corrupted by the persons for whose use they were
contrived. For these people have fallen into a needless and
endless way of multiplying ceremonies, which have been extremely
troublesome to those who practice them, and insupportable to
everyone else: insomuch that wise men are often more uneasy at the
over civility of these refiners, than they could possibly be in
the conversations of peasants or mechanics."
Political
Oratory or Political Lies?
A prime prerequisite for a politician is the ability
to speak; 'to Orate'. This is why the House of Parliament is so
called; Parliament derived from ‘Parlance’ or the French to
speak ‘parler’.
Unfortunately it is not a prerequisite that the 'Politicians
should know what they are talking about’ or that 'Politicians
should speak the truth’.
Autistic
Government?
Autism: Definition: Characterised by
complete self-absorption and a reduced ability to respond or
communicate with the outside world.
If a 'gaggle' of Politicians were to be collectively studied
by a Psychiatrist, they would manifest exactly the same 'Autistic
Characteristics':
If the current Political Government System was compared to an
individual person, they would be classified as ‘mentally
disabled’ or ‘autistic’, in that they manifest all of the
typical symptoms of ‘autism’, these include:
Serious
Lack of 'Commonsense’
(an anathema to Politicians and the exact opposite to Politics)
Disassociation
with the Real World
Disassociation
with Public Opinion
Inability to produce Joined-up Thinking
Severe Lack of Coordination
Political Self-Importance & Arrogance:
Many of the general public are angry,
disenchanted, un-trusting and cynical about the modern political
base government system. It is very apparent that most politicians
and political parties are only interested in their own power and
self aggrandisement, regardless of their electorate’s opinion.
The real problem with Politicians is that they think of themselves as
independent agents and elected for their own ‘intelligence,
charm & charisma’. This gives them a completely
‘delusional’ sense of self-importance and arrogance. Politicians are only interested in
presenting their own agenda and interests.
Their own opinion or illusions about their own charisma, personality or
'sexuality',
often cause Politicians to manifest the qualities of prima donnas
and superstars, in fact they are merely public servants, who’s
primary purpose is to ‘Serve’ the Public’s desires and
interests.
Promises! Promises! Nothing for Everyone!
All political parties presuppose to offer
"Something for Everyone", unfortunately they all fail
miserably and end up offering ‘Nothing for Everyone’.
This process also involves an enormous amount of deceit, lies,
more commonly known as 'Spin'.
The rhetoric of all political parties, and most politicians, is
like banging an empty barrel, very noisy and full of empty
promises.
Apathy and the Political System:
At election time the government claim that
many people do not vote due to apathy. Many of the general public
who do not vote, claim that this is because there is a no
political party or politician worth voting for.
After
being elected, every political party relies totally on this same
'public apathy' to be able to pass ridiculous and unworkable
policies and legislation through Parliament, uncontested.
The
truth is, that even if the general public or an individual were to
contest such policies or legislation, the politicians and
government do not listen or act upon the electorates desires. This
instills in the general public, the feeling that their opinions
are never listened to and their vote is worthless, so
why bother to vote?!?
Most
people would accept the argument that the current political system
is woefully out to date, archaic, unsuitable for modern society
and its problems, and very much overdue for a change.
Politics,
Democracy & Constitution:
Britain is the only supposed Democracy in
the world without a written constitution, which seems rather
strange, since most British believe Britain to be the ‘Mother of
Democracy’.
The reason why we don't have a written constitution; according to the
Politicians, is that it makes "things" more "
flexible" when dealing with the "Law" and
"Politics".
The question has to be asked, ‘More flexible for whom? Obviously
the Politicians of course! Then, most of the British Public and
many Politicians don't even know what a ‘Constitution’ is
anyhow.
Political
Corruption:
There are probably some good reasons why
Politics was adopted as a means of governing the country.
Primarily the "Political - Democratic" system, (which is a
contradiction of terms) was seen as a means to
prevent the King and Nobility (the Nobs) from abusing their powers of
government. Based on the principle that ‘Power Corrupts’,
through the introduction of a “Democratic" system, the King
and Nobility where prevented from introducing bad and ridiculous
laws and taxation.
Although Magna Carta is supposed to be a 'constitution' of sorts
in declaring ‘Democratic Rights’, the democratic rights
referred to, are those that have now become "Politician's
Rights" or “Parliamentary Privileges”.
Without a written 'Constitution' it is difficult to define the
"Democratic Rights of the People"
In modern-day politics, the politicians take unto
themselves the 'Airs & Graces' and Arrogance of the 'Nobs' that the Magna Carta was supposed to prevent.
Therefore, it is once again time for the ‘Great British Public‘
to ‘Stand Up for their Rights’ and change the Farcical,
Chaotic and Corrupt Political System of Government.
Now
is
the Time
for every Good Man and Woman to Come to the Aid of the Party.
Political
& Electoral Contract:
It would appear that although a
politician is elected to office on the strength of various
promises made to the electors, the politician is under no
obligation to fulfill those promises.
If these promises are written down, is this not then a breach of
contract?
If these promises are verbally made, is this then not a breech of
verbal agreement?
Both equally binding in law.
If this is the basis for the election of the national government, is this
then not corruption, or is it the politician’s means of making 'Fools of
the Electorate?
It is surely corrupt and immoral for a politician to expect to be
elected to the ‘Highest Office in the Land’ on broken
promises, lies and deceit?
Does this not also bring into question the legality, morality and
intentions of those that propose to govern the people and pass
laws 'down' to them?
What
is Democracy?
Most Democratic
country's, for example France & the USA have a written
constitution based on the French 'Declaration of the Rights of
Man', 'instigated' by Napoleon Bonaparte around 1789.
The Politicians seem to be 'unaware' of their ‘democratic role’ as
representatives of the people. Once again ‘Power Corrupts’ and
5 years in office is a long time for the Corruption to take hold.
In the case of ‘Ultimate
Power causing Ultimate Corruption’
we only have to look at
‘Muggit Thatcher’ whose reign left us with a wealth of
chaos and social ‘Time Bombs’ such as the ‘Poll Tax’, the
'Vast Void in Science and Technology in Education &
Industry’ and the ‘Property Market’:
Deregulation:
Not
to mention Herr Blair’s systematic destruction (as in
disassemble) of the law, known as ‘deregulation’, which was
the primary cause of the ‘Global financial Collapse’ plus the
vast range of other political corruption. (Ref: Deregulation)
